…okay, there might be a few bugs in Windows, at least in the UI (maybe some buttons don’t work or something, I dunno, I use Linux).

But from an application development perspective, let’s say there’s a new function where the latest Windows update breaks, say, keyboard input in Firefox on some systems when a newer API is used. There’s two options:

1. Tell everyone that this is a Microsoft issue and they need to update their Windows version. Some enterprises might not be able to update for a while; people might not know how to update Windows; it might take a while for Microsoft to release a fix; and Firefox will remain inoperable on some systems.
2. Work around the issue in Firefox, so users can keep using the software.

In practice, option #2 is the only viable option, since it’s the only thing under the developer’s control. In that sense, even though strictly speaking the bug is on Microsoft’s end (assuming Firefox is using the API correctly), it’s a Firefox bug if it doesn’t work.

The same logic applies to macOS, and even to Linux where the platform doesn’t implement something correctly. ‘Correct’ is what the platform implements, not what it’s supposed to implement.
